Senior Staff Nurse (RGN)

So, what does the role of a Senior Staff Nurse entail?

Reporting to the Ward Manager / Deputy Ward Manager, as a Senior Staff Nurse you’ll be responsible for ensuring that a high standard of patient care is consistently maintained at all times. You’ll also assist Senior Staff in the management of clinical departments and provide effective leadership and management in their absence. Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Assessing patients’ health and wellbeing across a complex and changing caseload
  • Promoting and safeguarding the wellbeing and interests of patients, employees and visitors
  • Assisting in the delivery of care to meet individuals’ health and wellbeing needs
  • Assisting in maintaining and developing services and contributing to quality improvement
  • Providing advice, guidance and support to junior staff to ensure the delivery of high quality care
  • Acting as a Team Leader for clinical shifts
  • Maintaining standards of infection control and assisting patients in maintaining infection control needs
  • Ensuring patient information is provided, received and recorded in accordance with policies
  • Ensuring that clinical governance and risk management are embedded within daily practice

What do I need in order to be considered for this Senior Staff Nurse role?

  • Previous experience working as a Registered Nurse with a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration
  • Competence across a range of nursing skills supported by professional and clinical knowledge, including infection control and health and safety
  • Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies, such as the Care Quality Commission
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and using own initiative
  • IT literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexible approach to work and working patterns

Salary: £29,250 per annum
